Kill Your Comfort Zone to Unleash Your Growth

“A ship is always safe at shore, but that’s not what it’s built for.”  Albert Einstein

I’m a rock climber and a skier. Last year I started distance swimming in open water. These are all things that initially scared me. I’m all about trying new things and pushing my boundaries in the physical realm.

On the professional side, this year we are undergoing a rebranding effort that my partner Rob blogged about earlier. We are hiring new team members, upgrading our technology and trying to say on top of recruiting technology and trends. All of this activity is pushing me to my limits.

Generally speaking, I dislike change. I like to do things the same way I have always done them. I get anxious when I have to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time. Last year I decided that my New Years resolution was “more anticipation, less dread.” It was such a good one that I am sticking to it again this year.

This article resonated with me more than anything else I've read in a while, here's the key points

Killing your comfort zone.

  • Find the things you find awkward
  • Say "yes"
  • Put it in your agenda/calendar before the self doubt kicks in.
  • Have a little confidence in achieving things you're capable of.

Great read here when you have 5 mins...
