This national general merchandise retailer is seeking an experienced District Manager for a 3-month contract to support a group of stores in Edmonton North. You will be responsible for leading store performance, supporting day-to-day operational execution, improving standards, and ensuring each location is positioned to deliver strong customer service, sales results, and team engagement. Description
Operational Leadership
You will oversee a group of stores across Edmonton North, ensuring each location is operating efficiently, following company standards, and addressing store-level challenges quickly and effectively.
Sales and Performance
You will monitor sales results, review key performance indicators, identify opportunities for improvement, and support Store Managers in building practical action plans to improve results.
Team Leadership and Coaching
You will mentor, guide, and support Store Managers, helping them lead their teams with confidence, accountability, and consistency. You will help reinforce expectations around performance, communication, and execution.
Customer Experience
You will champion a strong customer-first culture and ensure each store is delivering a consistent and positive shopping experience that reflects the company’s brand standards.
Store Standards and Compliance
You will conduct regular store visits, review operational standards, support merchandising and execution, and ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety practices, and internal procedures.
Strategic Execution
You will work with regional and senior leadership to execute company initiatives, promotional programs, and operational priorities across the district.
Community and Market Presence
You will support local market engagement and encourage stores to maintain a strong connection with the communities they serve.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Area Manager, District Manager, or similar multi-unit retail leader
- Strong background in general merchandise, big box, specialty retail, or high-volume store operations
- Ability to step into a contract role and make an immediate operational impact
- Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and follow-up abilities
- Comfortable reviewing sales data, identifying trends, and translating insights into action
- Proficiency with retail systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office
- Willingness to travel regularly within the Edmonton North district
- Available for a 3-month contract assignment
