This is an exciting opportunity to oversee the efficient management and maintenance of a major retail complex in Calgary, AB. This role requires a hands-on operational leader with strong communication and vendor management capabilities. The successful candidate will help direct daily building operations, coordinate maintenance programs, supervise operational staff, and ensure the property continues to operate safely, efficiently, and to the highest professional standards.

Description

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the property, ensuring the facility is maintained to the highest standards
  • Lead and support a team responsible for maintenance, building operations, and site services
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of operations staff
  • Assist in the preparation and management of annual operating and capital budgets
  • Coordinate both scheduled and reactive maintenance across the property
  • Manage relationships with contractors, consultants, and service providers to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently
  • Support preventative maintenance programs related to HVAC systems, energy management, environmental programs, landscaping, security, and life safety systems
  • Monitor building systems and operational performance to maintain efficiency and reliability
  • Prepare operational reports and documentation to support effective decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain strong risk management practices to protect the property and its occupants

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in building operations or facilities management
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a commercial property, retail centre, office or mixed-use environment
  • Diploma in Building Environmental Systems or related technical education preferred
  • Preventive Maintenance Program- experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), such as Maximo
  • Pwer / Stationary Engineer 4th or 5th Class Certificate, SMA (BOMA), or Building Environmental Systems II considered an asset
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, mechanical systems, plumbing skills and general building maintenance practices and procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, building automation systems, and preventative maintenance software
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment

Salary: $70,000 – $75,000 + 14% bonus
