A trusted, iconic Canadian restaurant brand is seeking a Front of House Assistant Manager to join its leadership team in Nanaimo. The Assistant Manager plays a key role in carrying forward a proud service legacy while supporting the next generation of hospitality professionals. The Assistant Manager is a visible, hands-on leader who supports the General Manager in overseeing front-of-house operations and service excellence. With a strong presence during peak periods, this individual helps set the tone of the dining room, supports the team in real time, and ensures every guest experience reflects the brand’s longstanding commitment to hospitality. This is a leadership role built on trust, teamwork, and pride in doing things the right way — even on the busiest days. $55,000 to $60,000 base salary plus substantial bonus.

Description

  • Lead front-of-house operations with a strong focus on service, hospitality, and guest connection

  • Be actively present on the floor, supporting service flow and engaging with guests

  • Coach, mentor, and develop servers and hosts to deliver consistent, welcoming experiences

  • Support scheduling, shift leadership, and labour management

  • Assist with onboarding and training, setting clear service expectations from day one

  • Handle guest feedback and service recovery with empathy, professionalism, and confidence

  • Uphold dining room standards, cleanliness, and overall presentation

  • Partner with the General Manager on daily operations and leadership initiatives

Requirements

  • Has experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within a full-service restaurant

  • Is naturally service-driven and energized by leading from the floor

  • Brings a people-first mindset with strong communication and coaching skills

  • Takes pride in hospitality, consistency, and doing right by guests and team members

  • Remains calm, organized, and solutions-focused in a fast-paced environment

  • Sees hospitality as a career, not just a job
